In the picture: Workers of the Rukum – Dolpa Road, as pictured in June 2016. Dolpa was not connected to a road network until last year. Situated in the Himalayan region of Karnali, it is home to the serene Phoksundo Lake and Yarshagumba (Cordyceps Sinensis) grasslands. Mostly a rocky, dry and deserted terrain it is regarded as one of the most remote districts of Nepal. However, the people of Dolpa saw hope last August as it got connected to the national road grid. As a result, they now have access to important supplies including food and other resources, which otherwise would not have been affordable.
